The review paper discusses the sexual activity of patients with cardiovascular diseases: after prior myocardial infarction and cardiac reparative surgery, in stable ischemic heart disease, cardiac valvular diseases, congenital pathology, and arrhythmias. It considers the pharmacological treatment of erectile dysfunction with phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors. Particular emphasis is placed on the clinical efficacy and tolerance of sildenafil citrate.
