This article is focused on the question of interaction between obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA) and cardiovascular disease. Causal relationship between endothelial dysfunction and OSA is covered in details. Discussion of the current mechanisms of the development and progression of arterial hypertension in patients with OSA is presented. Evidence-based data as well with the expert opinions are cited. Questions of the affect of the CPAP-therapy on endothelial dysfunction are addressed.
