The need for statins in patients with acute and chronic forms of coronary heart disease is now beyond doubt. However, there is still a view that from the perspective of safety it is necessary to cancel statins before a surgery and reinstitute them after a surgery. This review examines the feasibility and safety of preoperative statin therapy in patients with ischemic heart diseases before planned coronary bypass surgery.
