Nutritional deficiency (malnutrition) is the principal marker of distress in case of chronic pancreatitis due to a loss of the main pancreatic function during digestion. The knowledge of the mechanisms of syndrome development can help clinician to understand the most justified surveillance of chronic pancreatitis patients to avoid the occurrence and progression of malnutrition, affecting the long-term prognosis of patients.
